CAUSES
- Trauma
SYMPTOMS
- Pain
- Bruising
- Deformity
- Lack of shoulder function
PREOP
- X-ray
- CT scan, evaluate fracture pattern and severity
RECOVERY
- 10 days suture removal
- 2 weeks sling
- 4 months physical therapy 2 x per week.
- Expectation is full range of motion and no pain with return to full activity. Sports by 4 months.
TECHNIQUE
The glenoid is fixed screws designed under x-ray guidance either open or arthroscopically
DAY OF SURGERY
- Nerve block anesthesia
- 2 hour surgery
- 23 hour stay
WHEN TO HAVE SURGERY?
- Fracture displacement necessitates surgery for shoulder function
- Glenoid fracture large enough to compromise shoulder stability
